Years from now, Nathan might forget those exhausting nights at the garage.
He might forget the hospital hallway or the folded letter that changed everything.
But I hoped he’d always remember what I told him that evening.
He never had to earn my love by carrying someone else’s pain.
And no matter how old he became, how frightened he felt, or how difficult life grew, there would always be a place for him to come home and ask for help.
Because being a good mother didn’t mean protecting my child from every hardship.
Sometimes it meant making sure he knew he never had to face those hardships alone.
The End.
